Xiang xiang "cheng shi Zhongguo" de ling lei fang fa: yi Xu Haofeng de cheng shi wu xia wei li

M.Phil.In the 21st century, do we still need Wuxia? How can we imagine Wuxia in urban space? China’s urbanization from the 1990s and onwards is rapid and intense in speed and scale, and how could Wuxia, as a local and popular culture, touch these new urban experiences and to picture contemporary “urban China”. By naming Xu Haofeng's writing as "urban wuxia", this paper proposes “urban wuxia” as a new method to read both wuxia texts and an alternative perspective to imagine urban China. In this perspective, the city replaces the otherworldly Jianghu in traditional wuxia texts and China in wuxia studies. The other hand is to bring out the alternative experiences and memories of traditional martial artists in contemporary China and also the wuxia as a cultural vision shared by wuxia authors and readers to shed light on the city we dwell. Inspired by Benjamin’s images of note boxes and card filing as a kind of contemporary knowledge production, I use ‘card filing’ as a method to read and reconstruct from Xu Haofeng’s work. This paper adopts concepts and methods from sociology and urban cultural studies to picture the social and cultural contexts beneath Xu Haofeng's wuxia writing and to conceptualize three types of urban wuxia subjects.作為二十一世紀的現代都市人，我們是否還需要武俠？如何可以在都市空間中想像武俠？中國八九十年代開啟的劇烈而迅速的城市化進程，在這種城市景觀和社會文化的複雜變動和斷裂中，是否能催生出新的武俠想像，武俠作為一種本土的大眾的文化想像又是如何觸摸這種新的當代都市經驗？本研究從這樣的發問開始探討武俠看似遙遠離地的記憶和想像如何與現代都市的地景和經驗互動，推演出對城市中國的另類想像。本研究將徐浩峰的書寫命名為「城市武俠」，並提出「城市武俠」作為一種觀看和閱讀的方式，以「城市」取代傳統武俠想像和研究的江湖和國族，挖掘武俠想像和（真實存在的）習武者對於城市中國的另類視角。「城市武俠」試圖以武俠來命名一種城市想像，也嘗試以城市來命名一種武俠想像。本文借鑒本雅明提出的筆記卡片的收集歸檔（note box and card filing）這一當代知識生產的意象，以這種創造性的重構作為本文研究徐浩峰的方法。通過對徐浩峰的都市武俠進行文本分析，參照社會學研究城市的路徑將社會脈絡和文學形式結合起來，將徐浩峰的城市武俠主體概念化。並且將徐浩峰的經歷和自我敘述作為社會學和文化研究意義下的個案，探究個體如何以武俠這種書寫方式來理解和回應自身在八九十年代之後的城市中國的文化和社會處境。肖承捷."2019年9月".Thesis M.Phil.
